Playing the Waiting Game
Tuesday, January 23, 2007
We've found a TON of houses that look great in Chico, but the jobs aren't quite as easy to find....at least not from 2 1/2 hours away. We've been looking online, and haven't found ANYTHING in my husband's field.
Right now we're car-less, but when our tax return comes in, we'll be getting an SUV and then we'll be in Chico on Feb. 12th and 19th. My daughter has those days off from school, and that way we can go look for jobs during the week. Hopefully that will yield some nice results. I'll of course keep updating.

YIKES!!
Wednesday, January 10, 2007
Wow!! I just talked to my mom about us moving up to Chico, and she acted like I was doing this to ruin her life and take her grandchildren further away from her. Right now she lives an hour away, and when we're in Chico, we'll be about 3 hours away. She doesn't come visit us that often anyway, and when she does, she drinks herself into a haze.
I just was NOT expecting that kind of response. I am doing this to better my family and get my kids to a town where I can feel comfortable sending them outside to play....and where I'm comfortable walking down the street for that matter.
When we had to move from Chico because we had no other choice, my mom went into a mental hospital and ended up getting electro-shock therapy. It totally took her memory for months. I'm afraid the same thing is going to happen when we move to Chico. She's going to blame me, and in one way or another, I'll feel extremely responsible and guilty.
But I will NOT stay in the bay just to make someone else happy. This is MY life, and I'm 24. It's time to start living for myself and my family (meaning my husband and kids.)

Job Search
Monday, January 08, 2007
Well, we've contacted 15 property management companies so far, and no luck! It seems like no one in Chico is hiring maintenance supervisors right now. We're going to keep on lookin' though.
I'm still debating on whether I'm going to get an out-of-the-home job when we move up there (I work at home now.)
We have found some really good prospects as far as houses go, though, and I can't wait to go up and look in person! Right now we don't have a reliable vehicle, but we're buying a new SUV in February, so we'll soon be able to really do some footwork as far as finding jobs and possibly a house. I'll be updating again soon! :)

The Story Thus Far....
Wednesday, January 03, 2007
I was raised in Chico, California. I consider it my hometown, even though II moved away when I was 19 because there just wasn't enough job opportunity. I had a year-old daughter, was engaged to her father, and was pregnant with another little one. But we still took off, thinking we were never going to look back.I often visit my friends and family in Chico, and every time I get inside the city limits, I feel like I'm home. I LOVE that feeling, and I've been wanting to move back for the past 5 years or so. Recently Chico has experienced a HUGE growth surge, and a resulting employment boom. My husband has been having problems with this company for the last 3 years because they just don't appreciate hard work. The bottom line is more important. So, yesterday he came home and informed me they had screwed him again, and this is just the push we need to get back to Chico. YEY! There are so many reasons I love Chico. Come back often, as I'll be posting them all along with the saga of making our way back up north and re-establishing our family.
wasn't born there.

The Beauty of Chico
The scenery in Chico, CA is amazing. They have a number of scenic parks and hiking trails. These are my favorites. One Mile Receration Area
The One Mile recreation area is a favorite swimming area not far from downtown Chico. Actually one mile from Chico's down town central park. One Mile is about the beginning of Lower Bidwell Park.
The Five Mile recreation area is nice for swimming and picnics. And you guessed it, it's five miles from Chico's down town central park. Here's where Lower Bidwell Park ends and Upper Bidwell Park begins. Between One Mile and Five Mile there are some nice trails you can bike ride.
And last but not least............
Upper Bidwell Park
Upper Bidwell Park in the spring always attracts a lot of hikers not only from Chico but groups of people from all over the North State. This is also probably one of the nicest times of the year to ride as the weather isn't too hot and the park is lined with wild flowers and lots of greenery.

Party 2007
Monday, January 01, 2007

I'm so excited! I have never done anything like this, but in February, I will be hosting a reunion party at a presidential suite in my hometown. I have reconnected with a lot of old friends and family via MySpace, and now we're all getting together! I will definitely be posting pictures! This is huge for me, as I've been kinda homebound with the kids and all. YEEEEEY freedom! lol
